Families of St. Mary Magdalen School,

Blessings to you and your family.

It was mentioned in the State of the School Address that our enrollment was declining into the 2020-2021 school year. We have had questions relating to what this means for staffing and staffing assignments for the upcoming year. Total building staffing is dependent on total student enrollment. We know at this time that enrollment will be lower next year. We are making plans accordingly to ensure the best use of all our school resources. The COVID-19 pandemic has led to uncertainty with some families in terms of their employment status and their ability to return to St. Mary Magdalen in the fall.

Because of the additional uncertainty present this year, we will be delaying new hiring until midsummer. Once we have completed our enrollment process, we will be working on final teaching assignments for the fall. Final teaching assignments will not be known until we can complete our hiring process. What we do know is that we have a building full of strong teachers and professional staff. We will maintain a strong staff into our 2020-2021 school year. The tradition of a quality Catholic School education, delivered by exemplary educators, will remain intact.

Also, we have had some questions about what this means in terms of the number of sections per grade level. As in prior school years, the number of sections for a grade will be determined by the total enrollment for that grade. It is possible that there will be one or two sections in each grade level depending on final enrollment numbers. We will make our program decisions based on our building’s needs. As more information becomes available, we will work to ensure our families are informed in a timely manner.

We thank you for your patience as we move through this unique time in our country’s history and, for your continued prayers for our success. Stay safe and healthy. God Bless!
