Today we kicked off our annual SMM Fun Run with a school-wide assembly, where students learned all about the fundraiser and how they can help support our school. This year our goal is $55,000, with funds dedicated to safety and security upgrades that will directly benefit our students and teachers – and I know we can do this! The event is made possible entirely by our staff and parent volunteers. You can find full details on the official SMM Fun Run website. On September 26th, we’ll celebrate our school’s accomplishments with the run on the lower soccer field, starting at 11:00am. Parents are welcome to join us as volunteers or cheer on the students from designated areas. For safety, all classes will run at the same time on multiple courses.
From now through September 26th, students will have the opportunity to raise money for our school while staying active and building school pride. Prizes will be awarded to both students and teachers for reaching goals throughout the campaign. Awards include recognition for the overall top fundraiser, the teacher with the top fundraising class, the class showing the most school spirit during the week and at the Fun Run, daily challenge winners, and classroom incentives. And once again, every student will receive a Fun Run t-shirt to wear at the event!
In order to achieve our goal of $55,000, students are asked to visit the official SMM Fun Run website, join their class team, and create an individual page to share with family and friends for donations in the week leading up to the run.
How You Participate:
- Log in to the SMM Fun Run website and scroll down to find your class under “Top Teams.” Select “Join Team” and create your personal fundraising page.
- Contact your family, friends, and any potential sponsors to request donations directly through our school’s website.
- Please ask family, friends, and neighbors (near and far!) to sponsor your child’s participation. Did you know many employers match employee contributions? Be sure to check with your sponsors to see if their employers will match. If you have an employer match please notify Melissa Morrier-Turk to ensure the funds are applied to your child’s fun run donation page.
- Students: Lace up your sneakers, throw on your gym clothes, have your water bottle ready, and have fun!

Students can also join in the daily challenges for a chance to win prizes announced the following morning.
Classroom Prizes

Determined by each Team Captain (classroom teacher) as goals are met during the pledge drive.

Award for the class showing the Most School Spirit throughout the pledge drive and Fun Run.
Overall Top Winners

Overall Top Earner in the School: Gift card for a party of up to 10 people at Flying Squirrel or GameOn in Everett.

Teacher of the Top-Earning Class: $100 gift card of your choice from the Scrip office.

Top Earner from Each Grade: Lunch with Dr. Mahar.
If we reach our school-wide goal of $55,000, the top earner from each class will participate in a special all-school assembly. Each top earner will compete for prizes—and ultimately face off against Dr. Mahar—for the overall prize! The assembly will take place the week after the run.
Donations must be received by September 26th to be eligible for prizes.
