Safe Environment Training

The Archdiocese of Seattle is dedicated to ensuring the safety of children, youth, and vulnerable adults. For more than 25 years, the Archdiocese has implemented measures to ensure safety in our parishes, schools, and agencies. Sexual abuse, misconduct, and harassment have no place in our community. The Archdiocese of Seattle values the sacred trust between its members.

All Church and School Personnel and Volunteers must participate in our Safe Environment Program. To participate, please follow these steps:

  1. Create a profile on Virtus.
  2. Undergo a criminal background check every three years through Virtus.
  3. Complete the Protecting God’s Children course and online video refresher courses every three years.
  4. Sign the Archdiocesan Policies of Conduct electronically on Virtus.
  5. Submit an Archdiocesan Driver Form (for field trip drivers) and provide proof of insurance.

Volunteers and employees cannot work or volunteer until these requirements are met.
