We’re glad you’re exploring SMM further! Our admissions team is ready to guide you through a clear and supportive admissions process designed to get to know your child and help your family move forward with confidence.

What Happens Next?

1. Complete Your Application

After your campus tour, you’ll receive instructions to complete the online application. A $40 non-refundable application fee per student is required. You will also be asked to submit the following:

  • A copy of your child’s birth certificate
  • Current immunization records
  • A copy of your child’s baptismal certificate (if Catholic)

Age Requirements

  • Preschool 3: Child must be 3 years old by August 31st.
  • Pre-K 4: Child must be 4 years old by August 31st.
  • Kindergarten: Child must be 5 years old by August 31st.

Students must meet the age requirement for their program in order to be considered.

2. Student Shadow Day or Assessment

Once your application is received, we’ll schedule the next step based on the time of year and grade level.

For Pre-3 and Pre-K4 applicants, there are no student assessments. Instead, parents/guardians will complete a parent questionnaire as part of the admissions process.

During the school year, students entering K–8th grade will participate in a Shadow Day, spending time in the classroom, meeting future classmates, and experiencing a typical school day at SMM.

During the summer months, students will instead meet with a grade-level teacher for a student assessment and visit.

3. Admissions Review

After your application, student visit, and any required assessment are complete, your file is reviewed by our Admissions Committee.

We carefully consider each student to ensure SMM is the right fit for their academic and personal growth.

4. Enrollment

If your student is accepted, you’ll receive enrollment instructions and next steps to officially join the SMM school community.

Additional Policies and Criteria

Enrollment and Waitlist Policy

If a waitlist exists, placements are determined using the following priority order, with consideration given to the timing of application:

  • Siblings of currently enrolled Parish Families*
  • Parishioners with children new to the school
  • Non-parish Catholic families with children currently enrolled
  • Non-parish non-Catholic families with children currently enrolled
  • Non-parish Catholic families with children new to the school.
  • Non-parish non-Catholic families new to the school.

*Parish Family Definition

A parish family is defined as one that meets the following requirements:

  • One or both parents/guardians are Catholic
  • Registered with St. Mary Magdalen/St. John’s Mission (with a completed parish registration form on file with the Parish Office), or transferring from another Catholic school and parish
  • Regular participation in Sunday Mass
  • Commitment to ongoing financial support of the parish through Sacrificial Giving (pledge card on file with the Parish Office)
