Thank you for considering St. Mary Magdalen Catholic School! Selecting the right school for your family is an important choice. We warmly welcome you to meet our principal, Dr. Mahar, and explore our school firsthand on a tour guided by our advancement director, Melissa Morrier-Turk. We are now accepting applications for the 2024-2025 school year. To begin the application process, please follow the steps below.

We encourage you to mark you calendars for the Kindergarten Open House and our all-school Open House in January 2025. These events will offer a glimpse into the exciting opportunities awaiting in the 2025-2026 school year.

Apply

The enrollment period for Kindergarten through 8th grade typically spans from January to May for the upcoming school year or until enrollment reaches capacity. Preschool enrollment opens in September for the following school year. Enrollment during the school year is accepted based on availability, with start dates at the beginning of each trimester.

Admission to St. Mary Magdalen Catholic School involves a three-step process, outlined as follows:

Step 1: Inquire and Visit
All prospective families start with a tour our school. Our tour takes about one hour.

Step 2: Application
After completing a tour, you’ll be invited to complete an Online Application. A non-refundable fee per student is required alongside each application. Additionally, you’ll be asked to provide the following documents:

  • Child’s Birth Certificate (copy)
  • Immunization Record
  • Child’s Baptismal Certificate (copy), if Catholic

Age Eligibility for Preschool and Kindergarten is listed below. We will not consider a child for any class who does not meet the age requirements.

  • Preschool 3 – Children must be at least 3 years of age by August 31st to apply.
  • Pre-K – Children must be at least 4 years of age by August 31st to apply.
  • Kindergarten – Children must by at least 5 years of age by August 31st to apply.

Step 3: Shadow and Assessment Day
Upon receipt of your application, the school will reach out to arrange a shadow day for applicants entering 1st through 8th grade. During this hands-on experience, your child will spend the day gaining insight into life at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic School. They’ll participate in classes and activities, interact with future classmates, and discover all that our school has to offer.

Additional Policies and Criteria

Enrollment and Waitlist Policy
Upon acceptance of your application, early registration is the best way to secure your child’s place at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic School. In the case of a waitlist for your desired class, we prioritize applicants based on the following criteria, with consideration given to those who apply first:

  • Siblings of currently enrolled Parish Families*.
  • Parishioners with children new to the school.
  • Non-parish Catholic families with children in the school.
  • Non-parish non-Catholic families with children in the school.
  • Non-parish Catholic families with children new to the school.
  • Non-parish non-Catholic families new to the school.

*Parish Family Criteria

  • One or both parents or guardians must be Catholic
  • Registered in St. Mary Magdalen/St. John’s Mission with a completed parish registration form on file with the Parish Office, or transferring in from another Catholic school and parish
  • Regular participation in Sunday Mass
  • Commitment to regular and reasonable financial support of the parish through participation in Sacrificial Giving. Pledge card must be on file with the Parish Office.
